FIVE ASBOs FOR RIOTERS
By Kirsteen Paterson
Thugs are banned from estate
YOBS who staged a midnight riot — forcing families from their homes — have been banned from the estate’s streets for five years.
Children screamed as families were evacuated by emergency workers trying to deal with the thugs.
Knives, TV sets, burning furniture and other missiles were hurled through windows as fire fighters looked on.
Police battered down the door and used CS spray in a bid to end the drama, which unfolded on a Vale estate in November last year.
Now Steven Pellow, Ross Rainey, Daniel Wilson and Lee McCallum have been jailed for their roles in the siege, which was described by one witness as `pandemonium`.
Three of the friends — Pellow, Wilson and McCallum — plus pals Barrie Rainey and Christopher Colman have also been given Anti-Social Behaviour Orders (ASBOs) banning them from the Rosshead area.
George McFarlane, of the Rosshead Tenants and Residents Association, said: `We're delighted — it's a tribute to the community's determination and courage.`
