THE aunt of a three-year-old girl snatched from her bed on holiday has spoken of her fears for her `gorgeous` niece.

Dumbarton woman Trish Cameron was horrified to learn little Madeleine McCann had been snatched on a family trip to Portugal.

Her parents Gerry and Kate had left Madeleine and two-year-old twins Sean and Amelie sleeping while they ate at a nearby restaurant.

When they discovered their daughter was gone at around 10pm on Thursday, they raised the alarm.

Ms Cameron, who is Mr McCann's sister, says the family is now going through hell.

She said: `My brother and sister-in-law are absolutely distraught.

`They last checked at half past nine and they were all sound asleep, windows shut, shutters shut.

`Kate went back at ten o'clock to check. The front door was lying open, the window had been tampered with, the shutters had been jemmied open and Madeleine was missing. She's an absolutely beautiful, wee blonde girl with blue-green eyes. She is a gorgeous wee girl.`

The Reporter understands that Ms Cameron flew to the Algarve as Portuguese police revealed the tot is possibly being held near the holiday resort.
