A CHARITY worker from the bonnie banks hopes to be crowned Scotland's bonniest babe.

Gorgeous Isla McKenzie is in the running for the coveted Miss Scotland title.

The 23-year-old demolished competition from 700 other women to make it to the final 30 contestants.

The ambitious entrants, from all over the country, are determined to win the glitzy tiara when the current Miss Scotland, Nicola McLean, finishes her term in June.

Standing at 5ft 11, Jamestown girl Isla thinks she has what it takes to make it to the top, and says she has the right qualities to represent the nation.

She said: `I'm proud of Scotland and I'm very ambitious.

`I model part time already and this is something I've always wanted to do. I've always followed the contest and I think it would be amazing to represent the country — I'm very patriotic.`

The blonde beauty, who works for the Nordoff-Robins musical therapy charity, will find out if she has made it through to the next stage of the annual contest tomorrow (Wednesday).

If so, she will then compete for a place in the last 10 before heading to the final, held in Princes Square, Glasgow, on June 2.

Isla, of Honeysuckle Lane, added: `There are a lot of beautiful girls there with brilliant personalities, but I think I've got as good a chance as anyone. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.`

To vote for Isla, call 09011 215123 or text SCOT 23 to 83010. Lines close at 4pm today (Tuesday).
