AN AIRPORT terror suspect may have been a Vale medic, the Reporter understands.

As police try to piece together evidence about the attack on Glasgow airport on Saturday, the Reporter has learned that one of the suspects could have worked at the Vale Hospital.

The news comes after a hospital patient told police she was convinced the Jeep Cherokee used in the attack had been parked at the Alexandria site on “several occasions”.

The woman — who did not want to be named — told the Reporter: “It chills me to think about it, I am horrified.”

Reports emerged yesterday (Monday) that one of the two men who drove the burning jeep into the doors of the international airport was a doctor working as a locum at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH).

Employed by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, locums at the RAH are known to work at any and all hospitals operated by the health board.

A medical source told the Reporter this was “not unusual” and that it was “certainly possible that a locum at the RAH would also be doing shifts at the Vale”.

And police have confirmed that at least one person arrested over the matter is a qualified medical doctor.

Detectives from the Serious Crime Squad were also set to interview two Dumbarton women over their Vale sightings claims.

The officers were understood to be meeting with the women — both out-patients — yesterday afternoon (Monday) as the Reporter went to press.

They contacted the terror incident line on Sunday after police released the vehicle’s number plate, L808 RDT.

One said: “I remember the car because I saw it illegally parked at the old A&E at the Vale. It was blocking part of the road, so it stuck in my mind.

“I am petrified that my name will get out. I have been worrying about whether or not I have done the right thing by putting myself at risk, but I had to call the police.”
