A SEXUAL “predator” who preyed on two young girls has been caged for his vile attacks.

Gordon Huff, 64, is considered to be at a high risk of re-offending, according to a report from social workers.

Huff had been convicted of the disgusting offences by a jury on June 27 after subjecting his victims to giving evidence at his trial.

The girls were just six and seven-years-old at the time of the assaults.

Huff — whose wife has now left him — had been living in Douglas Road, Silverton, prior to his trial, but was remanded and appeared from custody at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Wednesday to be sentenced.

He first struck between March 2001 and November 2002 in Drumry when he carried out depraved sex acts on his seven-year-old victim — the details of which are too graphic to print in a family newspaper.

He struck again on a number of occasions in July, last year, at an address in Old Kilpatrick, where he targeted a six-year-old.

Appealing for leniency, Huff’s lawyer, Ms Glancy, told how her client acted as a carer for his mother, who is 84.

Ms Glancy said: “[Huff] was her principal carer and she will feel his absence. I would ask that in deciding what period of imprisonment that you take into consideration that Mr Huff does not keep the best of health and provides care for his elderly mother.”

Ms Glancy also told the court that Huff — who has been married for 27-years — has met just once with his wife since his conviction and that the relationship will not be continuing upon his release.

Sentencing, Sheriff William Dunlop said: “I have to say that you have had a far better defence than you deserve.

“Your case was clearly well prepared but I cannot ignore the damage that you have caused by making your victims give evidence.

“I have a duty to protect the public from predators like you and a custodial sentence is the only appropriate measure in this case because of its sexual nature.”

Huff, of Old Kilpatrick, was given a nine year extended sentence — four of which will be served behind bars — and when he is released he will be on licence for the remaining five.

He was also placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely and on a list of people unsuitable to work with children.
