Has C-diff saved the Vale?
Vale of Leven Hospital
THE legacy of the tragic C-diff outbreak and the numerous lives it claimed could be that the under threat Vale of Leven Hospital has a future.
Promises to pump cash into the flagging facility have been welcomed by the families affected by the worst episode in its history.
Relatives of victims of the C-diff outbreak at the Vale say if the ailing institution was brought back from the brink it would be a massive consolation to them.
It followed Health minister Nicola Sturgeon’s promise that, after a decade of “uncertainty”, a “clear and unequivocal commitment to the future” of the Vale would be made.

The minister also apologised to the families as the investigation into the outbreak revealed the sorry state decades of under-investment has left the Vale in.
Her guarantee of funding and future security for the hospital has been well received by the families, who have united as the C-diff Justice Group.
Tom Divers, chief executive of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, also apologised for the tragedy.
David Logan, chair of the group, said: “These promises are of some consolation to us.
“But, if actions do not follow up the words, then they will mean nothing.”
