SCHOOLS and nurseries across the Burgh and Vale will shut three days into the new term tomorrow (Wednesday) because of strike action.
Parents are being advised to make alternative childcare arrangements as services grind to a halt.
All evening lets of council premises will be cancelled due to the industrial action with leisure facilities including the Meadow Centre and Vale of Leven Swimming pool closed.
Council buildings at Garshake Road, Dumbarton, and Rosebery Place, Clydebank, will be shut to the public, as will area housing offices.
And all rubbish collections due to take place tomorrow (Wednesday) will now be uplifted on August 27. Re-cycle collections will take place as normal.
Around 4,000 West Dunbartonshire Council (WDC) employees are striking in reaction to a 2.5 per cent pay rise.
A WDC spokeswoman confirmed the closure but added: “A number of work groups will not be participating in strike action and trade unions have made it clear that it should not prevent the authority from dealing with emergency situations.
“The council’s priority is to ensure the continuation of essential services without disruption.”
