Raids on most wanted

A CRIME crackdown saw some of the most wanted violent offenders in Dumbarton and the Vale rounded up.
Cops hit the criminals — on a list of the ten worst offenders on outstanding warrants — in a series of raids.
Four on the top ten list were arrested, including one man for allegedly having an outstanding warrant for the violent use of an offensive weapon.
He was also allegedly found to have outstanding fines against him totalling £600.
While another man was lifted for alleged possession of a quantity of cannabis.
The top ten list was made up of offenders with outstanding warrants for violent crimes, with a team of police carrying out a day-long operation to track them down.
Sergeant Kurt Anderson, head of community policing for Dumbarton and Alexandria, told the Reporter: “The operation against the ten priority warrants for the West Dunbartonshire area was a success, not just in arrests but also in the intelligence gleaned regarding the other outstanding warrants.
“This is part of an ongoing process in tackling violent crime, and there will be similar kinds of action in the future."
The Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) of Dumbarton police office led the operation
The crackdown was part of a wider operation across the whole of the Strathclyde Police area which saw 82 arrests.
It was also the first day on the force for five new officers, who joined in the operation.
