A DUMPED partner attacked his ex-girlfriend when she spurned his drunk attempt to persuade her to get back with him.
Barry Rainey, 19, threw the woman to the ground by her hair outside her flat before fleeing.
When cops caught up with Rainey at his home, he kicked an officer on the leg as police tried to handcuff him, Dumbarton Sheriff Court heard on Thursday.
Diane McConnell, fiscal depute, told the court: “At around 12am [the victim] was within her flat with another witness.
“She heard the buzzer sound and answered it whereby a male voice said it was her neighbour and she allowed him in.
“She went into the hallway and saw Rainey there — he said he was there to apologise. He then grabbed her by the hair and threw her to the floor and pulled her to her feet before throwing her back down to the floor again.
“He said: ‘This is because you’ve done this to me’.”
When police attended the woman was very frightened and had minor injuries but refused medical treatment.
Rainey was told he was under arrest and while police handcuffed him he struck out and kicked an officer’s leg.
Alexandria man Rainey pled guilty to assaulting the woman at Graham Avenue, Radnor Park, Clydebank on August 13 and to assaulting the policeman the following morning.
Mr Penney, defending, said: “He [Rainey] had gone to the flat under the influence of drink under some thought of reconciliation and lost control when he saw the woman with someone he knew.”
Sentencing, Sheriff Shirley Foran sentenced Rainey, of flat 3, 4 Mitchell Way, Alexandria, to six months in prison.
