A VALE nurse says she is gobsmacked at being short-listed for a top Scottish carer award.
Linda Harley, a cardiac rehabilitation nurse at Vale of Leven Hospital, found out she was nominated for the Scottish Health Heart Disease Team award last week.
Fellow nurse, Milly McPherson, put forward her colleague for the dedication after the kind-hearted work she undertakes with her patients.
Milly, a nursing assistant, told the Reporter: “She had no idea I had nominated her.
“She’s a wonderful wee person, she’s so good natured and everybody loves her."
Linda, who has worked at the hospital for almost 15 years, says she is overwhelmed by the accolade and told the Reporter: “I’m chuffed to bits but really quite embarrassed."
Linda insists all the staff at the Alexandria hospital work incredibly hard for the community and said it is not down to her work alone.
She added: “It’s definitely a team effort, all of us work really hard and no-one works harder than the other."
The Scottish Health Awards aims to honour the dedication, professionalism and hard work of those within the National Health Service.
Linda, along with the other two short-listed nurses in the category, will find out if she has won during a glitzy award ceremony which takes place on November 6 in Edinburgh.
But Linda added: “I’m not bothered about winning, I’m just so touched Milly nominated me.”
