SONS REVEAL NEW SIGNING
By GARE CLYDE
DUMBARTON boss Gerry McCabe paraded his first close season signing on Monday when Albion Rovers striker David MacFarlane signed a contract with the club.
Now he hopes others will join him as he works to bring in six new players.
Gerry is also interested in David's fellow team-mate striker Scott Chaplain, a prolific Wee Rovers scorer and the Third Division's Players of the Year.,
Scott, who is on holiday right now, has taken the Sons offer on board. But he has also had an enquiry from Clyde for his services and the pull of first division full-time football could win the day.
Nevertheless Gerry has not given up hope.
Gerry said: `Young Chaplain is a guy I would dearly love to get on board.
`His track record as a scorer with Rovers is well documented, and the promising thing is that he has told me that he has made no decisions yet and he will get back to me when he comes back from holiday.`
Talking about strikers, very promising 20 year-old Tommy Coyne will be signing a new contract.
The son of former Celtic striker Tommy Snr came to the club from Dundee last season and looked the part.
