MORE than 700 runners turned the streets of Dumbarton into a giant racecourse for the Polaroid 10k.

Celebrating its 21st year, the popular race draws seasoned pros from Scotland’s leading running clubs, plus less experienced entrants.

The stampede began at Dumbarton Academy on Thursday night, with the route slinking in and out of the town.

Robert Gilroy of Cambuslang Harriers was first past the post and first man at 30m 59s, while Lesley Chisholm of Springburn Harriers was the winning woman at 37m 09s.

Alastair Morrison came in at fourth place as the first Dumbarton AAC man across the finishing line at 31m 52s.

The full list of winners will be published in next week’s Reporter as the Vale prepare for their leg of the 10k series, scheduled for Sunday June 17 at 10am.
