VALE CAPTAIN PRAISED
By Dumbarton Reporter Sport
MORE than 400 fans paid tribute to Vale of Leven captain Alex Lacy on Saturday.
It was his testimonial match against a Rangers team that featured 14 youth internationalists from four countries in an entertaining match.
Vale manager Hugh Hamill sang the praises of a player who has given 12 years service to the Millburn Park side and is still going strong.
He said: “It is unusual for a player to be at one club for so long and Alex has got to be admired for that and whereas there may have been silkier players here in my time, there have been few that have shown his loyalty.
“He will play anywhere you ask him to, he is so versatile and is the epitome of the one-club man, he is the captain and that is a lot more than just tossing the coin.
“It is about taking on the responsibility on the park, making sure things are done properly and professionally and he has taken all that on board.
“I have a lot of time for Alex as both on and off the park he has been a credit to the club and I have never had any complaints about Alex while he has been here.”
