NIALL MAKES IMMEDIATE IMPACT
By GARE CLYDE
DUMBARTON’S new signing Niall Henderson, on loan from Gretna until Christmas, has settled down well at the Strathclyde Homes Stadium.
The 19 year-old Carlisle-based midfielder told me: “I have been in training sessions with the club once a week since I signed, but I was only fit to play for the first time against Arbroath on Saturday, and I really enjoyed playing with the lads.
“We played some really good football and I felt we deserved to win the match.”
Niall’s delayed debut was down to a hamstring problem which he picked up playing for the Northern Ireland under-19 international side.
The busy player travels to train with Gretna on Mondays and Fridays and comes through to train with Sons on Thursday evenings. Before joining Gretna, Niall played for Lurgan Town in Northern Ireland.
“Gretna manager Davie Irons felt that it would be a benefit for me to pick up experience with Dumbarton and I am very comfortable with that,” he said.
