TEN GAMES TO SAVE SEASON

GONE: Kenny Haswell

DUMBARTON now have ten matches left to bring a final sparkle to a disappointing season.

And, with three crucial rearranged midweek fixtures against East Stirlingshire, Stenhousemuir and Forfar Athletic to come, the call on all the members of their squad will become a reality.

Players who have not been regular starters will be called upon as injuries and even suspensions take their toll.

That gives hope to the players who might now be suffering from bench sores, for these ten games will be spread over seven weeks.

Manager Jim Chapman said: “Some of the players may be becoming impatient for a call, but that is what a squad is all about.

“I feel we will need that squad in the busy run-in to the end of the season, and players will find themselves with opportunities to prove themselves.”

One player who will not be playing again for Sons is full back Kenny Haswell who left the club last week.

Kenny, signed last summer from Aberdeen, failed to make a consistent impact during his spell with Sons, which had also been preceded with periods at Partick Thistle and Celtic Pro-Youth.

Last week goalkeeper Peter Shaw also left to go on loan to top junior club Arthurlie.

This is a clear indication that Jim Chapman is already casting an eye towards next season.

Apart from the three outstanding midweek matches Sons will also play before the end of the season: Elgin City (a), Stenhousemuir (a), Stranraer (h). East Fife (a), Montrose (h), East Stirlingshire (h), and finally Forfar Athletic (a).
