A REGAL RESULT
Royal Albert 0 Vale of Leven 2
VALE are just two victories away from wrapping up the title after a comfortable away win against bottom placed Royal Albert.
A first half double from Dougie Wilson was enough to see off their opponents at Gasworks Park.
Thorniewood United sit top of the league but played their final game last night away to Wishaw, meaning second placed Vale can wrap up the championship in their last two matches.
On Saturday they face Stonehouse Violet, who are currently struggling near the foot of the table.
A 2-0 away win in February kept Vale in the promotion hunt, with a Hugh Ward penalty and a tidy Kevin Montague finish doing the business.
And Vale boss Hugh Hamill is confident his boys can finish off Stonehouse for a second time.
He said: “The last match was a bit of a towsy affair, but this will be different with us at home on the Millburn surface.
“Everything is there for us to go out an win, but talking is easy — the players know what they have to do on the day.”
Hamill was delighted with the turnout for their recent cup clash with Vale of Clyde and is urging the fans to back Vale to the finish.
He added: “The Clyde game was on a Friday and it was nice to see the numbers we got supporting us.
“It makes a difference when there is a decent crowd and that would be nice to see again on Saturday.
“We had a 14-year-old come along which is important as guys like that are the future.”
