Youtube talent is icing on the cake
SONS have snapped up a diminutive Youtube trickster.
Former Partick Thistle winger Stevie Murray became the final addition to the Sons squad on Monday afternoon.
The 5ft 4ins bag of tricks — whose ball juggling skills are captured on the popular video sharing website — is a valuable addition to boss Jim Chapman’s side.
Entertainment value has been a key desire for the Sons’ coaching staff this season and Murray, who played alongside Shaun Maloney and Mark Canning in the Celtic Youth set-up, has plenty of flair.
Murray, no stranger to the Dumbarton ground having trained there with the Scotland U21 squad, started his senior career with Kilmarnock before a loan spell with Queen of the South last January.
Murray, 25, who was Partick Thistle manager Ian McCall’s first signing when he moved from the Doonhamers, agreed to a 2-year contract.
This represents a significant coup for the club with the player on the radar of several higher profile senior teams.
Assistant manager Alan Adamson said: “Stevie is the icing on the cake and I am sure the fans will take to him.
“He is full of tricks but with an end product and it was only a season and a half ago he was tearing apart SPL defences.”
