SONS’ MEET AND GREET
By David Christie
THE DUMBARTON squad is swelling after a further two additions at the weekend — just in time to take part in a meet and greet session.
Assistant manager Alan Adamson, deputising for boss Jim Chapman who is away on a family holiday, welcomed former Queen’s Park and Alloa Athletic defender Ross Clark and ex-Pollok midfielder Raymond Logan.
And Adamson soon put the latest arrivals through their paces at Levengrove Park but not before the introductions were complete.
Adamson joked: “We had a good training session, but first I held a wee introductory talk.
“I got all the guys together and we had a sort of icebreaker asking them all to say who they were and what they have done before Dumbarton.
“With so many new faces it got quite funny and the banter was good so we are off to a great start.”
Both Clark and Logan agreed to one year deals, ensuring there will be competition in every position.
Clark will provide plenty of options, able to play at right back or in midfield while 29-year-old Logan makes a welcome return to the senior game after a two year absence.
Adamson said: Ross was playing with Alloa and Jim [Chapman] knows him of old.
“He became available much to our surprise and it was too good a chance to miss. He is a really impressive utility player on the right, able to play in a number of positions.
“He will be another addition who puts pressure on the right for a jersey as competition for places is fantastic. He looks like a good one.
“Raymond has enjoyed a really good season with Pollok and he has a great attitude, working hard in training and matches.
“His season just finished last week so he is still strolling along quite the thing — I asked him if he needed a slow return to training and he said he just wanted to start back and get on with it.”
Logan, who started his senior career with East Fife, was in the midst of his second spell with the Stagecoach Premier Champions, having rejoined the‘Lok after a season as captain of Ayr United.
His return to Newlandsfield seemed surprising with Inverness Caledonian Thistle chasing his signature.
The 6ft midfielder, who juggles his football commitments with his work as a fireman, is intent on winning a championship medal.
