DUMBARTON snapped up an SPL striker just before the transfer window slammed shut.

Paul McLeod joins the Sons from Hamilton Academicals and will provide welcome support to the depleted front line.

The Scottish Football Association chose to extend the transfer window by a day due to it falling on a Sunday.

And the extra 24 hours allowed Chapman to make his move, with the 21-year-old released by Accies in the nick of time.

McLeod has previously spent time on loan at Alloa Athletic and Ayr United, but has opted for a one year deal with the Sons.

Chapman said: “Getting agreement with clubs is the easy part, but players often don’t want to drop two or three divisions to play and when that happens any deal is lost.”

“However I’m delighted that Paul has decided to join us on a permanent deal that takes us to the end of this season.”
