DUMBARTON scored three goals for the first time all season — but the glut didn’t surprise the gaffer.

Jim Chapman sent out his troops to face his former employers knowing they were due a break infront of goal.

And the strikes from a defender, a midfielder and a striker proved exactly what the boss already knew.

He said: “Myself and Alan [Adamson] knew there were goals right throughout the team.

“It is just up to us to keep the squad believing.

“Ben [Gordon] is a threat at set-pieces and when the ball breaks, sometimes it goes against you but this time it fell for us.

“Hopefully now our bad luck is turning into good luck.”

The manager — who also saw recent signing Paul McLeod open his account from the penalty spot, kept the same system from previous weeks.

But this time his players got the result their endeavours merited.

He added: “We had been playing well enough up until the Albion game and we didn’t approach it any differently.

“The difference was we converted a couple of chances early on and took control.

“The guys work so hard and showed me they can do the dirty work too. That was typified by Stevie Murray. We know what he can do going forward but he really showed he can do the negative stuff too.”

Next up is a home clash against second placed Cowdenbeath, with Michael Moore pushing for a place on the bench and Alan Gourlay and Mark Canning also back in contention after injury.

“Cowdenbeath are a good side,” added Chapman. “They have plenty of experience and a target man who can be a handful. They will be a threat but so will we.”
