Don't tell me it's Dingwall

SCOTTISH Cup goal hero Iain Chisholm will be cursing his luck after Sons were drawn away to Ross County in round three.

Chisholm’s second-half header booked Dumbarton’s place in the hat at the expense of Fraserburgh on Saturday.

But the midfield dynamo — back in the side for the injured Derek Carcary — could be forgiven for wishing he had not bothered when he heard the outcome of the draw yesterday (Monday).

Sons trip to face the Division One side in Dingwall will be another logistical nightmare for both players and supporters alike.

Chisholm and his team-mates had hoped to be in Brechin in time for tea, but the best laid plan fell apart.

He said: “Friday’s trip to Fraserburgh was awful.

“The lads were on the bus for a total of six hours due to the horrendous traffic.

“Apart from the journey, preparations by the club were very professional and I’m glad we decided to go up overnight.”

The former Albion Rovers midfielder was pleased with the team’s, and his own cup experience.

He said: “Conditions were very difficult. The wind was a factor and we chose to let them have it first half.

“The tactic paid off as we always thought we could get a goal with the wind at our backs in the second half.

“Scoring is always a pleasure and to get the goal that takes us further in the Scottish Cup is a bonus.”

Chisholm is now hopeful his goal against the Broch can help him cement his first-team place in the coming weeks.

He added: “It’s good to be back in the team. Getting a start against Montrose was a bonus, though the manner in which I got in is not good with Derek (Carcary’s) injury.

“I thought I did well but staying in the team is now up to me.”
