SONS striker Derek Carcary was as disappointed as the fans following the 5-2 defeat against East Stirling.

He said: “We didn’t play well at all on Saturday and the ‘Shire really were on top form.

“It was a lethal combination and we got what we deserved and that was nothing.

“It was a rubbish day all round and I feel sorry for our fans who continued to back us despite the performance.”

Derek’s own contribution was probably the best on show from a Dumbarton player on what was a dismal day, but he was keen to stress that it’s a team game.

He added: “It was pleasing to score, but it was too little too late and while I’m always glad to get on the scoresheet, doing so when you are 5-0 down takes the gloss off.”

Looking ahead to the Rovers game, Derek is convinced Sons will get back on track.

He said: “The gaffer will make sure what we did wrong against the Shire will be highlighted. And hopefully we’ll have learned a few lessons.”
