As well as achieving a first class honours degree in Diagnostic Radiography, Steven McKay was also awarded the Colleen Vaughey Memorial Prize for Clinical Performance in Diagnostic Radiography and Society of Radiographers Professional Award for Academic Achievement.

The 37-year-old was presented with the awards at his graduation ceremony from Edinburgh’s Queen Margaret University (QMU).

And the dad-of-two to Aaron, 9, and Ruaraidh, 8, has already secured a job in his chosen field at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh.

Steven said: “It was a real challenge trying to juggle family life with my studies, but the support I’ve had from QMU and the new friends I’ve made has meant that I’ve been able to achieve my ambitions.

“I’ve gained valuable insight into radiography during my time at QMU, which I’m now looking forward to putting into practice in my new role at Edinburgh’s Western General Hospital.”
