A MAN has denied hitting someone on the head with an axe during an alleged disturbance in Tullichewan on August 2.

Martin Hall, 27, who was described as a prisoner at HMP Low Moss in court papers, denies that while acting with another he assaulted Alan McCafferty at Broomley Crescent by striking him on head with the weapon, repeatedly kicking and punching him on the head and body, and repeatedly stamping on his head and body to his severe injury, permanent disfigurement, and the danger of his life.

The alleged offence is said to have taken place on August 2 this year.

It is also alleged that while acting with another he smashed a window there, brandished bricks and demanded entry, uttered threats, and kicked a door.

Hall, who was on bail at the time of the alleged incidents, appeared from custody at Dumbarton Sheriff Court and entered not guilty pleas.

His solicitor Tom Brown lodged special defences of incrimination and self defence. The matter was continued for trial on December 7 and Hall was remanded in custody until then.
