Pupils at Bonhill Primary had a visit from a up-and-coming children's author.

Angela Proctor visited the school to talk about her first novel, Thumble Tumble and the Ollpheist.

She has been reading to a number of schools across Scotland – over 50 – as part of a campaign to get children more involved in literature.

She was invited to visit Bonhill Primary school by their voluntary librarian, Marjorie McGregor.

Angela had a fantastic morning when she visited the school on March 30.

As well as meeting dozens of budding little authors she was also taken on a tour of the school library which has evolved over the past few years into a labyrinth of fairytales, mysteries and adventures.

The book is set around the Isle of Arran, and Angela has taken her love of fairy tales to bring to life her world of witches and dragons.

For those parents who are still traumatised by some of the Brothers Grimm stories, they will not feel the same about Thumble Tumble and the Ollpheist. Although the stories revolve around witches and dragons, the theme is about good and evil but not so scary.

This book captures the wonder and excitement of a classic fairy tale and will fire up the imaginations of all who read it.

Thumble Tumble and the Ollpheist is available from Amazon, Waterstones and all good book stores.
