Fire fighters battled a blaze for six hours on Friday night in Haldane.

At 9.05 pm on Friday, April 29, the Scottish Fire and Rescue service received the first of "several" emergency calls to report the fire at Mill Hall, a derelict building near Haldane Primary School.

Crews were on the scene at Cook Road within five minutes, where they saw a derelict building which was "well alight".

They attacked the fire with two high pressure jets.

Fire engines from Balloch and Dumbarton were first at the scene, later joined by a crew from Helensburgh.

A spokesman for Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said the fire fighters took on the blaze from "strategic points surrounding the building", and using four high pressure jets.

He added: "They tackled it from the outside.

"The incident was gradually scaled down and the last of our crews left the scene shortly before 3am."

The building which was on fire was described as derelict, and was around 300sqm in size.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said the incident was being treated as wilful fire raising.

No-one was injured in the fire.

Police are looking at CCTV and enquiries are continuing.
