A public consultation will be held over plans for up to 200 homes in Dumbarton town centre.

As previously reported, plans to build on the former Allied Distillery Site near the town centre have been made public by joint developers Cullross and Dunbritton Housing Association.

Now, a proposal of application notice has been submitted to West Dunbartonshire Council for the work in Castle Street.

They will be consulting the public for 12 weeks on the proposed development, and attending both Dumbarton and Silverton and Overtoun Community Council meetings in the coming weeks.

The developer expects to submit a planning application at the end of July this year, and are hopeful it will be approved by November.

The proposal of application notice outlines plans for approximately 200 houses and flats, office and commercial, with associated roads, landscaping and car parking.

It is expected the public consultation exhibition will be held in Riverside Parish Church, in Castle Street, in the week commencing June 6 - but this date is still to be confirmed.

A statement submitted to the council says: "We invite comment and seek feedback from all those interested in this major project.

"We will seek to reach and communicate with as wide an audience as possible through a public consultation of the design proposals, which will be open to members of the public.

"In parallel we will also seek to consult with those who already speak to, and on behalf of, the local community, such as the local community councils, local councillors, and the local MSP and MP."
