Cornerstone, Cash for Kids and Braehead Primary School have received a share of a funding boost from Asda thanks to support from its Dumbarton customers.

The charities were nominated to receive donations for the Community Life programme Chosen by You…Given by Us.

Asda Foundation support’s Asda’s Community Life programme by providing the funding for the local charities and good causes nominated by Asda customers and colleagues.

Cornerstone received the majority of the donation and will use their £200 share of the funding boost to contribute towards purchasing specialist equipment for their photography club including a professional photography printer, photogenic photo paper and ink cartridges.

The charity aims to build friendships and community connections, as well as partnerships to support, sustain and integrate local communities and vulnerable groups through a wide range of fun and inclusive activities, groups and outings for people in the community.

Pamela Stewart, Asda Dumbarton’s Community Champion, presented the donation to the group in store.

Pamela told the Reporter: “We are extremely honoured to continually help support Cornerstone.

“The centre and all of the staff there provide a great deal of help and support for adults, young people and children living with learning or health difficulties in the Dumbarton community.

"We were thrilled when customers nominated the charities benefitting from this month’s Community Life programme; we couldn’t be happier showing our appreciation by helping as much as we can with this donation and raising awareness.”

Morag Bain, Team Leader at Cornerstone Connects, said: “The entire Cornerstone Connects team would like to thank Asda Dumbarton for their incredibly generous donation.

“These funds will be used to purchase specialist equipment for our photography club – enabling the people we support to put on their own photography exhibition about the history and development of Renton. This is a really exciting project, which we look forward to sharing with the community soon.”

Cash for Kids and Braehead Primary School received a donation of £50 each.
