A nursery in Dumbarton is celebrating winning two Gold excellence awards – at the same time as its 21st birthday.

Carousel Nursery, which runs both in Alexandria and Dumbarton, turned 21 this week.

The nursery staff and directors are also delighted to be recognised by Investors in People who have given them a gold award.

Directors Claire Rowan and Anne Jenkins set up the company more than two decades ago.

Carousel Nursery was set up 21 years ago by the pair, who found a lack of suitable childcare services in the area for their own kids.

Claire told the Reporter: "We both had a complete career change.

"We had children of our own.

"Now we have 130 staff in total, and 450 or so families use us in any one week."

To mark the celebrations, both nursery's held golden garden parties on Saturday, April 23.

Claire said: "We are very, very appreciative of the support from staff and families. We all had a lovely weekend, and hope they did too."

The nursery was also given an Investors in Young People Gold.

In any one week the nursery and after school club could have 450 families in the area using the service.

Around 130 staff are employed in total.

Karen Ormiston, Marketing & Communications Executive for Investors in People Scotland, said: "There are currently 128 organisations in Scotland who have been accredited Investors in People Gold, and 45 accredited Investors in Young People Gold.

"Carousel Nursery are in the top ten organisations within Scotland to have both accreditations at Gold level."

Accreditations are awarded as a result of a company wide assessment process, which evaluates organisations against frameworks set out by Investors in People and Investors in Young People.

Carousel Nursery Dumbarton is in the top seven per cent of all accredited clients.

Ms Ormiston added achieving a gold "represents a true commitment to employees".
