POLICE divers recovered mobile phones from a harbour in Copenhagen that could hold vital information relating to the disappearance of Vale woman Lisa Brown.

Fugitive Simon Corner, 33, was spotted throwing a number of phones into the water before he was detained by police officers in the Danish capital around a month ago.

He was extradited to Spain before appearing at court in San Roque in Andalucia, close to its border with Gibraltar. Police in Spain are treating the missing Alexandria woman's disappearance as a possible homicide.

A legal advisor who formerly represented Corner – originally from Liverpool – has labelled him an "idiot who thought he was too smart" for the police.

Lisa, 32, was discovered missing from her home in Spain on November 4 last year, after failing to collect her nine-year-old son Marco from school. She had been living in the Cadiz region close to its border with Gibraltar where she was due to start a new job with a betting firm.

Scouser Corner, who she had been involved in a relationship with, was believed to have left Spain after being questioned by police shortly after her disappearance.

Despite appeals by Lisa's family who live in Dumbarton for Corner to return to Spain and assist the police with their enquiries the Liverpudlian, whose real name is believed to be Dean Woods, failed to return. A European arrest warrant was issued last month and he was then arrested in Copenhagen.

Police divers recovered a number of mobile phones from the harbour and these have been sent to Spain to be examined by investigating officers.

Jason Coghlan, a legal representative who had released statements by Corner before severing ties with him a few months ago, tweeted a picture of him being escorted in to court in handcuffs. The picture was accompanied by the comment: "This idiot thought he was too smart for the Spanish police...big mistake! Now he's got to survive prison."

Lisa's sister, Helen Jordan from Dumbarton, took to the Find Lisa Facebook page that she set up after her sibling's disappearance to thank people for their support.

She added: "We were never in any doubt that we'd get this far, we never gave up and will continue in our journey to get the answers we so desperately seek."

A second Briton living in Spain has also been arrested in connection with Lisa's disappearance. He has been identified by the Spanish police only by his initials JW and is believed to be 30 years old and reside in La Linea – which lies on the border with Gibraltar.

According to reports in Spain he wasn't remanded in custody but had to surrender his passport and is to report to the court twice a month while investigations continue. It is thought he worked on a boat belonging to Corner a few months before he fled Spain leaving it behind. A third man has also been arrested but his identity has not yet been revealed.
