A MAN has been jailed for seven months after being sentenced for a string of offences including possession of heroin, theft of alcohol and food and breaching bail conditions.

Thomas Adams, 36, whose address in court papers said present whereabouts unknown, appeared from custody at Dumbarton Sheriff Court, to answer to the charges.

Adams was being sentenced for possession of diamorphine (heroin) on February 23, 2016, in Glennifer View, Clydebank, theft of a quantity of alcohol and food from Tesco, Gavin's Mill Road, Milngavie, on March 3 this year and theft of alcohol from Tesco on March 24.

The last offence occurred when Adams was granted bail from Glasgow and Strathkelvin Sheriff Court, on March 23.

Adams’ defence solicitor told Sheriff William Gallacher: “Your lordship has two choices – a custodial sentence, or a Drug Treatment and Testing Order.

“There has to come a time when everybody must mature.”

Sheriff Gallacher said: “His offending continues and continues.”

Addressing Adams, Sheriff Gallacher said: “I don’t think you are able to, or have now shown the ability to properly comply with the requirements (of DTTO).”

Adams was jailed for seven months backdated to April 25.
