A COURT heard that a Helensburgh man who was appearing for a community payback order review has managed to turn his life around.

James Jeffrey, 42, turned up visibly intoxicated for a previous review of the order at Dumbarton Sheriff Court, which the sheriff on duty that day branded "very disappointing".

Jeffrey had been placed on the CPO for a domestic offence at his former home address in Old Luss Road in Helensburgh on February 20, 2015.

He was on bail at the time of the offence when he shouted and swore at his partner and then pushed her on the body.

As a punishment he was ordered to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work in the community and be placed on supervision for 18 months.

The court heard from defence solicitor Kirstene McRae who told the court that her client had been residing at the Turnaround project in Paisley up until recently. She said: "It's fair to say that the turn around under Turnaround has been most impressive, but the challenge is to continue that."

The solicitor also informed the court that Jeffrey would be continuing to access addiction services and had voluntarily attended during his time at the Paisley-based residential unit for persistent offenders due to substance-abuse.

Jeffrey was also due to be sentenced for other offences which took place on March 19 this year at an address in Old Luss Road when he struck a window with his hand, damaging the window, he also struggled violently with two police officers who tried to arrest him and lashed out with his arms and legs. And then while at the Royal Alexandra Hospital on the same date he caused a further disturbance by shouting and swearing at police officers and hospital staff.

As part of his bail conditions for these offences Jeffrey is subject to a curfew.

Sheriff Simon Pender fixed a further CPO review for August 9 and deferred sentence on the other matters until then. Ms McRae requested that the hours of the curfew be amended to allow Jeffrey to attend counselling meetings.

He will now have to remain within his bail address in Old Luss Road between the hours of 10.30pm until 7am each night from Monday to Friday and 8.30pm to 7am on Saturdays and Sundays.
