West Dunbartonshire CAB is looking to recruit volunteers to train as advisers at its three local offices in Dumbarton, Alexandria and Clydebank.

Manager Joe McCormack said: “It's stimulating, interesting and friendly work, and very worthwhile – volunteering with your CAB might just be one of the most rewarding things you ever do.”

He added: “Trained volunteers have always been the lifeblood of our service – ordinary people who devote just a few hours of their time each week to help others in their local community.”

CAB advisors need to be good listeners and be able to work well in teams, and need to enjoy helping all kinds of people.

They need to have some skills to offer, including IT skills, and have to be prepared to commit to an average of six hours every week.

Among those who could consider taking part are unemployed people, who might see volunteering as a way of acquiring new skills, experience and an up-to-date employer reference.

Retired people, house parents and students are also in the frame, as CAB seeks to recruit its volunteers from a broad cross-section of the community.

West Dunbartonshire CAB is running a basic training programme in August, and anyone wishing to find out more should email Natalie Maynard at Natalie.Maynard@dumbartoncab.casonline.org.uk
