AFTER the pressure of studying for so many long hours and working extremely hard towards completing their final exams, senior pupils from Dumbarton Academy got dressed to the nines and let their hair down at the school's Leavers' Graduation Dance.

The end of term graduation dance was held at the Dumbuck Hotel in Dumbarton. The young adults, who are all S5 and S6 pupils and moving on up in the world and making way for the next crop of bright young things, enjoyed a fantastic night at the dance which took place on Wednesday 15 June.

The dance followed the school's Leavers' Ceremony which had been held earlier in the day where pupils were recognised for all of their efforts during their time at the high school. One or two pupils even shed a tear as they bid farewell to their friends as they prepare to move into employment or higher education establishments far and near.

Mr Murray Hanvey, depute head teacher at Dumbarton Academy who organised the event on behalf of the pupils, said: “All of the pupils looked amazing. The girls wore beautiful dresses in a many different colours while the boys looked very smart in their suits and kilts. I am sure many parents would have had a wee tear in their eye seeing their sons or daughters looking so grown up.”
