ST Margaret of Scotland Hospice is preparing to host its first-ever open golf championship in less than a month.

The Clydebank charity is hoping to fill the final spaces with teams of four asked to donate a combined £100.

Set for the Clober Golf Club in Milngavie on Friday, August 19, the tournament will see all proceeds go to the hospice’s work. They are also organising their Ladies 5K Midnight Walk – now in its fourth year – for Saturday, September 3.

Participants will set off from Great Western Retail Park along Great Western Road and returning from the Kilbowie roundabout for the event, now in its fourth year. More than 400 people took part last year, sporting costumes and light-up headgear.

Last year also included children as young as six with a responsible adult, which will continue in 2016.

Registration starts at 9.45pm on the night, followed by live music with DJ Steve McKenna and a keep-fit session. A presentation ceremony and barbecue take place at about 1am after the walk.

Entry is for women only who must be registered beforehand at a cost of £15 per adult or £5 per child. Each adult is asked to raise £30 in sponsorship. Men can also help with stewarding, registration and catering.
