STILL Game favourites and a few surprise guest stars hit the streets of Dumbarton to film last week.

Scotland's favourite pensioners broke out of the BBC's Dumbarton studios and turned a house on Helenslee Road into “Braemar Care Home” for the new season that will hit BBC airwaves this autumn after a nine-year hiatus.

A few old faces were back on set – old Eric, played by James Martin, and keen-hearing Shug, played by Paul Young.

They were joined by Line of Duty star Martin Compston, actor Gianni Capaldi and regular characters Jack (Ford Kiernan), Victor (Greg Hemphill, Isa (Jane McCarry), Tam (Mark Cox), Navid (Sanjeev Kohli) and Winston ( Paul Riley).

The new season will also include Bobby the Barman (Gavin Mitchell), Stevie the bookie (Matt Costello), Frances (Kate Donnelly), Fergie (Jamie Quinn) and new series regular, Methadone Mick, played by Scott Reid.

Compston and Capaldi were just visiting the set, apparently, but the BBC announced a few other names who will guest star in the new series, including Ronni Ancona, Kevin Whately, James Corrigan, Barbara Rafferty, David Elliot, David Ireland, Moray Hunter and Louise Stewart.

The Big Impression star Ronni Ancona said: “I’m so honoured and thrilled to be part of Still Game. I’m a huge fan of the show and I’m delighted to be back with the old gang again who I worked with on Pulp Video many years ago.

“That’s the official line. The truth is it’s really all an excuse to get close to Navid [Sanjeev Kohli] – all that polyester clothing really does it for me!”

Steven Canny, executive producer of BBC Comedy, said: “We’re delighted to welcome these two outstanding actors in to the Still Game family.

"Kevin is one of the most prominent, accomplished and experienced actors in the UK and Ronni’s comedy credentials speak for themselves. We’re lucky to have them on board and I can’t wait to see them tangling with Jack and Victor.”
