CCTV images of two balaclava-clad men have been released by Police Scotland in an effort to find alleged thieves who robbed more than £1,000 from a Vale supermarket.

Police said a pair of blade-wielding men threatened two staff and demanded cash at the Argyle Street Co-operative Food store on January 4, 2016.

The first man is described as wearing a black balaclava, black hooded top, light blue ripped denims and white trainers.  He had a dark coloured rucksack in his possession.

The second man is described as wearing a black balaclava, dark hooded top or jacket, black Adidas tracksuit bottoms and black trainers.

Detective Sergeant Stuart Grainger, the lead officer, said: "I believe that someone may have seen these men immediately before or after the incident and may have thought nothing of it at the time but any information we receive could be crucial.

“If you think you have information with regards to this incident then please contact Police Scotland on 101. Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.”
