A DUMBARTON councillor is “recovering nicely” after suffering a heart attack earlier this month.
Long-serving Dumbarton ward member George Black became unwell at the beginning of August but hopes to be “fully operational” by September.
He has taken this month off but is still dealing with any constituency matters and issues by email and telephone.
He told the Reporter: “I am now resting and recovering at home and shall be taking it easy for a few weeks.
“I will not be in the office during August but hope to be back in for September.
“I am still fully contactable, however, and have been checking my mail box to make sure I deal with constituency matters and questions as usual.
“I’m recovering nicely and hope to be restored and fully operational by next month.”
He also thanked well-wishers for their support, saying: “I’m completely overwhelmed by all the support that has come piling into my mail box.
“It really means a lot.
“I would like to thank all the well-wishers who have expressed kind thoughts and wished me a speedy recovery – the numbers were quite overwhelming.”
Dumbarton resident Margaret Beattie, 75, said: “I hope he gets well soon – he works hard for the area and and is a good man with good intentions for the town.”
