A TWITTER appeal to get Iron Man to save a young Alexandria boy’s day has been shared across social media.

The ROHHAD Association last week began a twitter campaign to get Aaron Hunter, who suffers from Rapid Onset Obesity, with Hypothalamic Dysfunction, Hypoventilation and Autonomic Dysregulation, or ROHHAD, a meeting with his hero Robert Downey Jr who plays Iron Man in the Marvel films.

Aaron’s parents, Elisabeth and Ian Hunter, set up the ROHHAD Association to help raise awareness of the condition and raise funds for a cure. The charity has hosted several fundraising events over the past few years including picnics and fun days.

Iron Man and the rest of the Avengers will be coming to Scotland later this year to film the next instalment of their movie franchise. It was announced at the start of 2017 that Avengers: Infinity War executives were scouting locations in Glasgow, Edinburgh and the Highlands.

It is hoped that with the man himself so close to Aaron’s home, he might find time to swoop in for a catch up with the youngster.

The tweet has been pinned at the top of the ROHHAD Associations twitter and has been retweeted and quoted more than 1,500 times each.

Some of the big names behind the retweets include comedian Miranda Hart, Ty Simpkins, who starred alongside RDJ in Iron Man 3, and even Mr Downey Jr’s cousin.

Elisabeth told the Reporter: “Aaron came up with this idea all by himself. He’s a huge superhero fan and Iron Man is his hero. Lots of Robert Downey Jr fan groups have been retweeting and sharing the video. It took us a few takes but Aaron really wanted to do it.

“His Go Mad Jump for ROHHAD has been on the go for a year now and there’s been tons of people taking part, we’ve managed to raise just over £30,000.”

Aaron’s Jump for ROHHAD campaign was set up last year when he asked his parents if he could do something to help his friends suffering from the same condition as many had sadly passed away.

After looking at things like the Ice Bucket Challenge Aaron came up with the idea to nominate people to jump in muddy puddles, like his friends did at playtime.

His first nomination for the challenge went straight to Iron Man and the Avengers. Although they haven’t had a chance to do it Nicola Sturgeon and Emily Middlemas have both done Aaron’s #GOMADJUMPFORROHHAD Challenge along with thousands of others.

Since then Aaron has written letters to them but they haven’t had a chance to read them yet and so the campaign has taken to Twitter.
