INDEPENDENT distillers Loch Lomond Group this week launched their inaugural global travel retail (GTR) range of whiskies at Glasgow International Airport.

The group, which owns the award-winning Loch Lomond Whisky brand among others, has been producing single malt whisky since 1814.

The partnership with the airport means travellers can now take home a taste of the region.

World Duty Free’s Glasgow Airport store is the first stop in a worldwide roll-out of the GTR range, which will launch in Nordic markets later this month.

The new collection features two single malts – Loch Lomond 12-Year-Old and Loch Lomond Inchmurrin Madeira Cask Finish – as well as the blend Loch Lomond Signature and Loch Lomond Single Grain.

André de Almeida, managing director of GTR at Loch Lomond Group, said: “We’ve been keen to introduce a global travel retail range for some time now, following increased demand for our Loch Lomond whiskies overseas. It means a great deal to us to offer the new range at World Duty Free in Glasgow Airport, less than 15 miles from our spiritual home in the heart of Loch Lomond.

“We’re confident that we are offering something new and unique to the marketplace that will deliver strong sales and a sense of discovery for whisky drinkers around the world.”

François Bourienne, commercial director, at Glasgow Airport said: “It’s exciting to be the first international airport to offer Loch Lomond Whisky’s new bespoke global travel retail range.

“We’re also very proud to be supporting a brand based so close to Glasgow Airport. Many of our customers will probably fly over the distillery itself – one of the whisky world’s best-kept secrets.”
