DUMBARTON People’s Theatre (DPT) will present their first show of 2017 at the end of February with Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None.

The thriller, which tells the story of eight guests who are lured to a lonely island and, along with two house servants, find it impossible to escape, will debut on February 22 and run until February 25.

As each of the guests meet their deaths one by one, the audience can put their detective skills to work to try and figure out ‘whodunnit’.

Elise McLean is helming the production as director and the large cast is working hard to ensure that the excitement is kept going till the final climax. Three new faces, Jo Gallagher, David Buchan and Gemma McNamara, join DPT regulars, Tricia Connelly, Gordon Downie, Chris Watt, Brian Garratt, Susan Anderson, Kenny McLean and Gareth Williams. Young Robbie Hail, who played Hansel in the recent pantomime, also makes an appearance as the boatman.

Director Elise told the Reporter: “And Then There Were None is a shocking murder mystery that has been captivating audiences for more than 70 years. Ten strangers are lured to a remote island location under false pretences where deep, dark secrets are exposed and people begin to die.

“It’s been a lot of fun bringing this macabre story to life during rehearsals and everyone involved in this production has worked very hard.”

Another important event in this season’s DPT calendar is the One Act Playwriting Competition which deadlines on February 28 at 6pm. The competition is open to anyone from West Dunbartonshire or with a connection to DPT.

The play should be no longer than 45 minutes. It is hoped that a short list of two or three plays will be drawn up, performed and a winner chosen.

Tickets for the show are £5 and to book or find out about the competition e-mail dumbartonpe oplestheatre@outlook.com.
