PUPILS at Christie Park Primary marked Children’s Mental Health Week by coming to school without their normal school uniform.
Children were asked to dress in an alternative uniform which reflects their belonging to an organisation they can identify with, such as a sports club, the Brownies, the Boys’ Brigade, etc.
The event was organised by Principal Teacher, Elizabeth Campbell, who said: “At Christie Park Primary, we actively encourage pupils to participate in clubs and organisations out with the normal school day.
“On Friday, February 10 pupils had the opportunity to wear their club or organisation’s uniform to celebrate the many activities and groups on offer in the community.”
All fo the children who were able to proudly don the uniform of their chosen club helped to raise awareness throughout the school about mental health and how important it is to keep an eye on it.
The school set the day up to recognise that social interaction from the various groups can benefit a child’s social and emotional wellbeing.
