BONHILL Primary School brought their favourite books to life with their World Book Day fancy dress.

Children across the school celebrated World Book Day by donning the guise of their favourite characters from classical and modern literature.

There were some iconic looks like Harry Potter and Alice in Wonderland as well as a few more obscure ones like Minecraft men.

All of the kids enjoyed their day as their favourite characters and were able to parade the halls, showing off some very intricate costumes.

Head teacher Maria Seery said: “The World Book day was a great success with the children having the opportunity to dress up as characters from their favourite books.

“It was great for us to see the diversity of characters which gives us a great insight into which books and authors are popular with children.

"All of the staff also came to school in the guise of their favourite characters.

“The Library Committee had planned a series of events for all children to participate in during the day.

"So although fun was the order of the day, there was also a direct learning focus."
