SHOP staff went bananas to highlight Fairtrade Fortnight. Workers at Balloch Co-op chomped through crates of the tropical snack — which is the UK’s most popular fruit — in a banana eating contest. The wacky challenge was held on the first day of the two-week event, which promotes ethical production methods, aiming to give the people behind the goods a fair wage and good working conditions. Organisers say that Scots who choose to buy Fairtrade items help to change lives of workers across the globe.
