A DRIVER caught behind the wheel without insurance failed to show up to court in fear of being attacked.

Last Wednesday, Edward Hunter was due to be sentenced for driving along the A907 between Gartarry and Marywood roundabouts without the proper paperwork in place on October 29 last year.

However, Alloa's Justice of the Peace Court was told that the 42-year-old accused, of Westerton Terrace in Carronshore, was not in attendance as he believed he would be assaulted because of other allegations.

As Justice Michael Bromby was unable to disqualify Hunter from driving in his absence, the case was continued until March 29 for the accused's personal appearance.
