WEST Dunbartonshire MP Martin Docherty-Hughes has offered his support to police and emergency services amid a terrorist attack on Westminster.
The MP was not in parliament at the time and said all his staff were safe.
He tweeted: "Away from the estate at the moment. Extremely worrying for Police Officers and all House of Commons staff."
He later added: "For info the constituency & House of Commons offices are closed for the rest of the day. All office staff safe."
A police officer was reportedly stabbed after earlier mowing down several pedestrians as he drove a car across Westminster Bridge.
He crashed into railings and ran into the Palace of Westminster, attacking the officerr before armed police shot him.
The Metropolitan Police said: "People are asked to avoid Parliament Square; Whitehall; Westminster Bridge; Lambeth Bridge; Victoria Street up to the junction with Broadway and the Victoria Embankment up to Embankment Tube.
"This is to allow the emergency services to deal with the ongoing incident.
