A WOMAN who went missing from a campsite near Loch Lomond over the weekend was found safe and well following a search operation involving police and the Loch Lomond Rescue Boat.

The 46-year-old woman had been missing from the Cashell campsite from around 6pm on Saturday evening, with police in Forth Valley and boat crews receiving first word of her disappearance shortly after 9pm.

The report led to an extensive search operation being launched with local officers, as well as a police helicopter and rescue boats, making use of search lights and night vision technology, with the woman eventually being traced in an area near Ross Point shortly after 2am on Sunday morning.

She was given a brief medical check-up on site, before being taken to the nearest police rendezvous point, where she was treated by the Scottish Ambulance Service for minor injuries.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman told the Reporter: “Police Scotland would like to extend their sincere thanks to Loch Lomond Rescue Boat, Lomond Mountain Rescue Team and Killin Mountain Rescue Team for their support.”
