A BELLSMYRE man who showed up at his former girlfriend's door and began acting aggressively has been fined.

Ryan Elliott arrived at the Carman View property on January 29 at around 6.20pm while the victim was putting two young children to bed, Dumbarton Sheriff Court heard.

The victim – who had been in an on-and-off relationship with Elliott – asked him to leave, however, he began to shout and swear to such an extent the youngsters were disturbed.

Depute fiscal Sarah Healing told the court the complainer asked the 34-year-old to stop his behaviour and when he persisted she called the police.

Ms Healing said: "The call handler could hear shouting and swearing in the background and (the complainer) shouting 'go away' and to leaver her alone."

Elliott, of Carman View, appeared in the dock on April 20 from custody relating to another matter, however, his solicitor stated he and the complainer would still be living together if he was not in prison despite no longer being in a relationship.

He said: "There's no history of domestic violence or abuse or police being called.

"She's visited him … he continues to provide financial assistance for her."

Elliott's defence agent asked the court to consider a financial punishment as he remained employed despite being in custody.

Sheriff Simon Pender handed down a £500 fine to be paid within 28 days and a fines enforcement order was imposed.
