A group of green-fingered volunteers from Bonhill are hoping to get the community involved in plans for their new garden at an event this weekend.
The Bonhill Community Garden and Allotment Group are holding a Design Day between 11am and 2pm at Ladyton Community Centre, where Bonhill residents of all ages are being asked for what they want to see in the garden.
The group has been working for around a year trying to find a local site in the area, before finally settling on a site which they are now trying to lease with help from West Dunbartonshire Council's Greenspace team.
Visitors to the Design Day will each be given an A4 sheet of paper to contribute their own design ideas, with a special kids prize for the best idea put forward.
The group has also been active in Bonhill's three primaries, asking pupils to come up with designs for a section of the garden that will be created by the area's young people.
David Davidson is one of the volunteers behind the garden and the Design Day.
He said: "The plans are all coming together after a year and now we're looking to get the community on board. Some parts of Bonhill have been looking a bit run-down and in need of a revamp and we're hoping that by getting young people involved in designing the garden, it will take away problems with vandalism as they will be working on it themselves."
