TWO businesses and willing volunteers joined forces to help transform part of Dalreoch Primary School.

Dumbarton-based Chivas Brothers and B&M Store clubbed together with parents and other helpers to create a new learning zone and garden room at the school, based in Castlehill.

Gwen Goldie, clerical assistant at Dalreoch Primary School, takes up the story.

She said: "Before the Easter Holidays our parents and volunteers from Chivas Regal came into the school and painted what was originally an unused storage area.

"It then made it possible for artwork to be drawn on the walls and the resulting transformation of the area into a fantastic learning zone and garden room for our P1-P3 pupils.

"Children will now be able to draw, read, learn and make and play in this new area.

"We even have two little fish 'Dal' and 'Reoch' to complete the room!"

All staff and pupils at Dalreoch Primary School would like to thank staff at Chivas for all their hard work on the day and B&M Stores, Dumbarton, who very kindly donated £100 worth of gardening equipment for the school.

Gwen added: "Everyone's continued support is very much appreciated indeed."

Special thanks also go to a group of volunteers from Chivas and also Kirstin Goldie, Kayla Goldie and their friend Lauren Lees who gave up several days of their Easter holidays to help with all the artwork.
